Seminole ISD is proud to congratulate Dr. Sylvia Suarez, Assistant Superintendent of Seminole Independent School District, on being selected the Region 17 TEPSAN of the Year. Each year, 20 school leaders are recognized by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA) for outstanding service to the association and Texas students. Honorees were recognized at the TEPSA Awards Reception on June 12th in Austin.

“I am completely honored to be announced as TEPSAN of the Year,” stated Suarez. “TEPSA is an amazing organization that focuses on enhancing leadership skills of school administrators. TEPSA has allowed me to make connections throughout the state and has afforded me the opportunity to meet with state officials to bring attention to the needs of Seminole ISD and our region. I am so proud to be a part of TEPSA and even prouder to be able to represent Seminole ISD. I am extremely humbled by the recognition of my peers for doing work that I absolutely love!”

Dr. Suarez became a member of TEPSA eight years ago. For the 2017 - 2018  school year, Suarez served as Region 17 President-Elect. Dr. Suarez has previously earned recognition as Teacher of the Year, and was a finalist for Assistant Principal of the Year. Seminole ISD has been fortunate to have two stellar leaders representing our schools on the TEPSA Board of Directors the 2018 - 2019 school year; Dr. Sylvia Suarez, Region 17 President, and Sherrie Warren, F.J. Young Principal, President-Elect.

“TEPSA’s Board of Directors works to advance the association’s mission and build leadership capacity so all Texas PreK-8 students and teachers can be successful,” Executive Director Harley Eckhart said.

TEPSA focuses on educational leaders learning with and from one another and has served Texas PreK-8 school leaders since 1917. The organization has more than 5,900 members who direct the activities of 3 million PreK-8 school children.
