Seminole football coach Ty Palmer stepping down

Seminole Independent School District has announced Seminole High School football coach and educator Ty Palmer will be stepping down as head coach.

Palmer was named head coach in 2019 after the retirement of Kent Jackson.

Palmer will remain on staff and serve as an assistant coach and science teacher at the Seminole Success Center.

David Williams, Seminole ISD Boys Athletic Director, said Palmer has been instrumental in serving as a positive mentor to the student-athletes at SISD. His enthusiasm and passion for the game are appreciated and SISD is grateful for both him and his wife, Justine. “We support him in his decision and hope he continues his great connection with kids here,” said Williams.

“I have not been the husband or daddy I want to be for my family - and this decision was based purely on that,” stated Palmer. We love it here - the community, school, the kids - and that is what made this decision so hard. I felt it was best for my family and Seminole to step down at this point and allow the administration time to find the next head coach.”

The search for the next Seminole Indians head football coach will begin immediately.
